Rogue Wave wants to make it even easier to find vulnerabilities on the fly with the release of Klocwork 2017. Klockwork is the company’s static code analysis tool. The latest version features SmartRank, a defect recommendation engine.
“We knew our users were struggling with too many issues and no way to prioritize them,” said Walter Capitani, Klocwork product manager at Rogue Wave Software. “Our engineers have created a function within Klocwork that allows users to not only see which issues are important, but rank them from most important to least important.”

According to Rogue Wave, developers are responsible for deciding which flaws and vulnerabilities to address first among hundreds of thousands. SmartRank is designed to help developers prioritize and solve their software problems faster. It uses smart algorithms to determine the most serious issues for developers to look at first.
“We strive to meet our mission to simplify the development of complex software, improve code quality and shorten cycle times,” said Capitani. “In addition to SmartRank, Klocwork 2017 also offers precision improvements in the scan engine, improved detection of security issues involving corrupted data, better standards compliance with the new MISRA 2012 verifiers and support from Amendment 1, Visual Studio extension enhancements, and a language and compiler support upgrade.
Other features include an upgraded crawl engine, C # 6.0 language features, improved continuous integration to support the Jenkins plug-in for macOS, and additional compiler support for Clang, GNU, and Intel C ++ .
