The Covid pandemic has affected many industries, but some companies have grown significantly. Software testing is one such industry that has seen significant growth as part of digitalization. According to the industry, with the current wave of digitization due to the pandemic, the industry is set for exponential growth.
“After an initial decline of three months, the demand for software testing services has increased significantly due to strong digitization. Industries such as education, healthcare, banking, insurance, and communications have seen the creation of new solutions to support remote operations, fueling the growth of software testing services. Our business has grown by 33% in the pandemic year and we expect 50% growth for the current financial year,” said Manish Gupta, CEO of Chandigarh-based TestingXperts.
TestingXperts is the world’s fifth largest quality assurance (QA) and software testing company. Software testing involves checking the computer system before its implementation for multiple aspects such as functionality, reliability, usability, security, compliance, and performance. Manish said there are only a handful of companies operating in the specialized software testing and QA space.
In any large digital transformation program, 60-65% of the cost and effort goes into design and development, and the remaining 35-40% goes into quality assurance and testing. While most companies in the IT industry focus on development services, TestingXperts has focused on quality assurance and the testing space, which is less cluttered.
According to the data, the global Pure Play software testing services market is expected to grow at a CAGR of almost 15% during the forecast period 2021-2024. However, amid the significant growth, the industry is plagued with challenges. “The biggest challenge facing the testing industry is on the talent side – hiring and retention. As the industry grows, the availability of quality labor is low and in case of labor experienced workforce, the attrition rate is high,” said one of the recruiters for software testing companies.
